My Tokidoki Tomodachi

After watching some fun interesting tutorials from the creator of these cute little Tokidoki characters on lynda.com I knew I had to add one of these little guys to my designer collection of dolls/gadgets/gizmos! While Tokidoki designs are very much Japanese they are actually made by an Italian dude named Simone Legno! You can see more designs and buy them at the tokidoki shop.

Don't you hate it when...

Don't you hate it when you buy one pair of pants and it fits perfectly. So much so you decide to get a second pair but the second pair is longer than the first pair! I mean theoretically it's supposed to be the same, right? grrr...Same with shoes! The first pair fits fine but same pair in a different color is tighter!!! argh!!! What's even worse is when your feet are different sizes so one shoe fits tighter than the other...WTF! Yah, I hate when that happens...

Bidniz Cards and Logos

So recently I've doing some logo work for family and friends and have rediscovered my creativity...for the time being at least. I'm pretty proud of the work I've done so far and hopefully in the end it will print out looking like I had imagined. While the designs are simple I think it incorporates what the clients asked for and in some instances even clever. (not to toot my own horn or anything!) :) I actually thought that I wasn't good at logos and they weren't my thing for a while, but I'm starting to see I don't mind doing them that much anymore. Yes, they do put a lot of pressure on you to design a graphic that sums up the entire company and represent it in a way that makes everyone happy. (Did I say there was pressure involved?) But once you make something that works and the client likes it too, it definitely give me as a designer confidence in myself and in the world, that they know what good design is.:)

While working on these projects I had to call printers for the first time to get quotes to print some business cards for my client. I was intimated to talk to the printers but mustered my courage and called them anyway. I found out that while their quality and work may be good their prices where not. It wasn't until my co-worker told me about 4colorprint.com that I was relieved to see their prices were much lower than the local printers. She had her own business cards printed there and showed me a sample, it was printed on silkcards 300 and it looked great! It has a laminate over the card so it's tear and water resistant. And better yet if you wanted to do a die cut, it won't cost you an arm and leg! So I'm excited to see how my cards will turn out, updates coming soon...

Time Flies

Wow, I can't believe it's already August! It feels like summer just started. I really need to move somewhere warmer. I don't like the winter at all and most of the reason why is because I hate driving in the snow. You'd think that because I grew up in Wisconsin that I'd be used to the cold. But OH NO my friends!

I'm sure it has something to do with wanting something you don't have. For example, I have a friend who grew up in Hawaii and he LOVES the snow. I think he's crazy. But if you think about it, he grew up in paradise. Never a day of bad weather. I would have no problems moving to a place with warm climates year round and if I ever got bored with the weather, I could go visit a place with snow. Sounds like a good plan to me. But until then...I'll continue enjoying this nice weather we're having for the time being.

OMG!!! WHAT IS THAT???

As I was heading back home tonight I walked past this animal on the fence in front of our building. It scared me because I saw it out of the corner of my eye and i was pretty close to it. I first thought, dog, squirrel, and then when I actually looked at it I thought maybe possum of some sort. But then I remembered my boss telling me that city rats are the size of cats!!! I've never seen one before and thought OMG, this might just be it!!! It was so gross and scary looking with it mouth hanging open. I quickly grabbed my camera to take a shot of it and then bolted for it, for fear it was gonna run after me, bite me and infect me rabies! The thing is, it was so still it wasn't bothered by me at all, in fact it didn't even move after I took the picture and bolted, it just sat there.

Ok, just did a little googling on what possums look like and I found a pic that looked like this one. But still, ewwwww. I still have no doubt this guy would have pounced at me and eaten me, he looked hungry!

First BBQ of the Summer

This weekend Joanne and Brian hosted a BBQ in Wilmette at Gilson Park. At first we were weary that it wasn't going to be good weather since it was raining at 10am but luckily the sun gods were in our favor. An hour later the skies cleared and it was beautiful out! The food was delicious and the beach was warm and wonderful! Ahhh, good times! More pics on myphotoalbum.

Flower Girl

This is a long overdue sketch that I meant to put up. It was during the time I was sketching flowers for a project at work. This particular sketch got a little out of hand at the end of the day...

No Worries, Friends

No worries, I haven't croaked yet. I know you were all worried and had sleepless nights and sent out prayers. Thanks, by the way. I think god must have answered them!

Death from a tomato

Opps!
After reading stories in the news about salmonella found from eating uncooked tomatoes and how restaurants including McDonalds are pulling tomatoes from their menus...without thinking I ordered a tomato mozzarella salad from Panera. And didn't even realize it until halfway through eating it. At that point, I didn't want to throw it out cause i paid for an overpriced salad and I already ate half of it. I'm probably already gonna die from it, so I mind as well finish it. Soooo...maybe not the right mindset but anyhooo...if I happen to croak sometime soon, know it was death from tomatoes. One of my favorite vegetables (and yes i consider it a vegetable). I already have a favorite fruit.

A Glimmer of Light at the End of the Tunnel

After much pondering and exploring new ways of thoughts/beliefs AND speaking with my guru (you know who you are :)), I've come to the somewhat of a new understanding of life and what it has to offer. Don't get me wrong, I don't have any answers yet but all I can do is try to understand and change my outlook on life. I've decided to be more positive about things and be in a good mood everyday. Not that I wasn't trying to do this before but I think before I would just go with the flow and everyday was the same old same old. I felt nothing.

Lately, I've been feeling an excitement inside of me. My heart beats faster as in anticipation for something great soon. I would like to start my day everyday excited, how great would that be? I'm going to do my best to start taking initiatives in my life and do things that will feed my excitement. Hopefully by doing all of this I will develop a passion that I am lacking in my life.

Maybe all of this positive thinking is because Spring is finally around the corner...
I do believe that does has some impact on my emotions for sure. And hopefully this will be just enough to get my act together and do something worthwhile.

Dead End

Lately, I've been feeling like I'm at a dead end. Is this an early quarter-life crisis??? I'm not sure. After college and finding a job there isn't much expected of you...besides getting married and having kids. But what else is there? I mean is that it? I think I just feel lost at what to do next.

I'm lacking motivation and inspiration to do something that will fulfill my life. I'm searching for a meaning, a purpose...happiness. I feel stuck, stagnant, and bored. I need a life worth living! I'm merely just existing.

Human Tetris

Human Tetris is a game show they play in Japan apparently. And I must say that is the is the BEST GAME EVER!!! They really need to bring this show to the U.S. However, it probably wouldn't be as funny. The determination in these men's faces is quite admirable, you must admit!

But, I will let you watch it for yourselves and make your own opinions.

Christmas Presents

So every Christmas it seems as though all my cousins gather together and decide what they will get me that year. Not really, but it seems to be a theme every year. Two years ago I was getting stuffed animals, last year it was soaps and lotions, and this year, chocolates! I'm not complaining, all were very nice gifts and I enjoy them but don't be surprised if the next time you see me I'll be 100 pounds heavier!
